Tests Facilities Lab
The test laboratory is the CSL origin 50 years ago. To simulate the space conditions and to answer to the maxim “test as the specimen will flight” is our objective. The test laboratory has increased over time to follow to the projects requirements in order to qualify space instruments, sub-units or even complete satellites.
P
resently, 6 vacuum chambers from 0.8m to 6.5m diameter are available at CSL.
A CSL specificity is to have stable optical benches in the vacuum chambers for optical calibration. Thermal environments from cryogenic temperatures (4,6K) to hot temperatures (160°C) can be simulated in vacuum conditions (10-6 mb). A dedicated facility has also been developed to simulate the radiations.
Two shakers from 88 kN to 200 kN complete the test facilities offer and can simulate, along the 3-axes, the mechanical perturbations seen during launch.
The vacuum chambers and shakers are located in clean rooms (1050m2 ) and present the advantage to realize vibration test and thermal vacuum test in the same area. The clean rooms are Iso7 cleanliness level with modular Iso 5 areas.
Additional rooms are available for customers as airlocks, COE, meeting rooms and storage area.
