Lasers & NDT

Since early 1990s, the Laser & Nondestructive Testing lab has developed a unique expertise in research and development of techniques for metrology of space structures and nondestructive testing of aerospace materials.

he techniques studied and developed are :

  • dynamic photorefractive holographic interferometry,
  • speckle interferometry and digital holography (in the visible and the infrared),
  • shearography,
  • speckle correlation,
  • terahertz imaging and holography,
  • thermography,
  • laser ultrasound generation and detection in composites.

The group is also active in post-processing with such techniques as a help for interpretation. At last, the group has gained expertise in developing and characterizing performances of systems based on pulsed lasers.

Activities of the group encompass basic research on measurement principles up to instrument prototyping and applications. The group is highly active in applying such techniques in relationship with needs of aerospace industries: metrology of space optics and structures in view of comparison with finite element analysis, full-field and contactless flaw detection in composites, laser guide star for astronomy,...
