The electronics lab offers extensive design, prototyping, system engineering and project management services for the development of Instrument Control Units (ICU) and Remote Terminal Controllers (RTC) for optical scientific payloads for Space.

Sapce scientific paylods

As part of the ULiege, we benefit from close partnership with the scientific community, particularly in the fields of:

  • Observation of the Sun in the UV and EUV spectra
  • Observation of the Earth in the visible spectrum
  • X-ray detection
  • Photometry

We carry out electronics and software involving techniques such as:

  • FPGA and SoC design
  • Microcontroller programming
  • Vacuum
  • Reliability
  • Radiation tolerance
  • Thermal regulation
  • Actuation of cover mechanisms
  • Fine positioning of filters, mirrors
  • Signal conditioning of image sensors and photometers
  • Data acquisition, storage and processing
  • Telemetry

We also benefits from on-site environmental test facilities providing easy-access to vacuum thermal cycling, vibration, shock and specific optical calibration and verification equipment.

Past and Current projects include

HST-PDA, XMM-NEWTON, ILM2-RAMSES, ISS-3DUC, HERSCHEL-PACS, JWST-MIRI, PROBA2-SWAP/LYRA/ESP, JUNO-UVS-SMIB, ESIO, SOLAR-ORBITER-EUI, PROBA3-ASPIICS, VMU mkII
